Bon Jovi = Greatness

Bon Jovi 2007 Concert @ Vancouver GM PlaceSooooooooooo awesome! It’s just 2 hours after getting home from Bon Jovi’s concert at Vancouver GM place. The show was packed, Karl and I got there late (since I left my wallet in the car and I didn’t realize it until we were at GM place so I had to like run back to the car) Anyway, the show was opened by a local guest band “Hedley“….they were actually pretty good. When Bon Jovi came in, the crowd was so high and everyone just stood up and yell. They first performed the songs in their latest CD, followed by some of the best hits in the 80’s like Bad Name, Runaway…etc. And of course, everyone was so high and all yelling and whistling~~~:) Here’s the complete play list.

Bon Jovi 2007 Concert @ Vancouver GM PlaceThey performed a couple more songs after the encore, and Santa actually showed up giving away presents to people sitting in the first couple rows~ By the way we sat really far away but I was still able to take lots of great pictures and videos with my Canon G9 + 6x zoom :) The show ended with the song “Treat Her Right”, and everyone was clapping like nonstop. Thanks Jovi for making up my awesome night! (I wish they had played songs like “These Days” and “My Guitar Lies Bleeding In My Arms” which are two of my all time favorites!)

FMTA + Rabbit Junk + Stiff Valentine band show

Got up at 5pm today! I was shocked at how good I am at sleeping :)… probably due to the time difference / jet lag but still I felt bad for myself…

FMTA on the stageAnyways went to Andrew’s (from FMTA) band show today at Pat’s Pub, with Karl + Eva + Korie. Apparently we arrived there too early, around 8pm, bands hadn’t arrived yet not mentioning any of their fans… We thought it was okay since the pub was pretty nice overall with really good fish n chips…so we waited…and waited….for three hours! Finally Junk Rabbit started their sound testing around 10pm and we were like thanks God finally some music… Okay anyways, FMTA (Andrew’s band) opened the show, it was good, I like their new song “Ellipse” (or Ellipses??) so much, as well as “Pandora”, Jen (FMTA vocalist) sang so well in it at around 2/3 of the song…

Stiff ValentineRabbit JunkRabbit Junk (with their cool logo)Then it came Stiff Valentine and frankly I did not know it was them until Andrew told me about it after the show…lol… I thought they were okay, not as good as that I’ve listened to on their myspace. The show ended with Rabbit Junk and their crazy head bobbingggg friends. Frankly they were pretty awesome and the singer JP Anderson was pretty hilarious (too bad their guitar and synth sound wasn’t noisy enough or it’d have been way better) Anyway it was a pretty enjoyable show (FMTA rules!) other than the exceptionally long waiting time in the beginning… (Thanks Korie for sending me these pictures~)

13 chicken wings! holy crap

Just went to the bandroom to meet up Korie and Karl.. Looks like Korie got dropped out from her class so she’s down and stuff, so we went there to chat up with her. She seems to be okay afterall, lol.. we jammed a bit as usual and a while later Joe (drummer) showed up so we all jammed.

I suggested to go to #9 restaurant to have their super tasty garlic and pepper wings so we went there. We ordered two orders of wings and I actually ate up 13 of them! Just couldn’t stop since it’s too tasty. Man I think I can eat it non-stop… :) Had ordered a Hong Kong style milk tea as well, I wish I can sleep well tonight…

On the way home I took a picture of the new BCIT Aerospace centre for no reason, and here you go:

Entering “bandless” mode

I quitted my band last night, yes, I quitted. Had some alchohol with Karl and Sai, they apparently didn’t want me to go and they had really tried their best to make me stay…but.. I guess it’s my own problem, my own fault, that I had developed this fear playing band with them. We have been trying to write songs, and each of us was supposed to add their own stuff to the song….etc. I’m not sure why but I didn’t feel like doing it. Perhaps because I didn’t like the style of the songs that they do? Or maybe having too much stress lately on things? Somehow I just couldn’t force/tell myself to devote my time and effort into the band, and therefore I’d rather end it quickly instead of going to the band practice and disappoint everyone.

I’m just qutting my band, not quitting on my musical journey. I’d still goto the bandroom to do some free jam with them whenever I feel like, and I’d also keep on creating my favorite pieces on my piano. Music is just part of my life afterall, I guess :)

Annyonghaseyo!! Mannaso banggawoyo!

The title of the post means “Hello, nice to meet you!” in Korean, learnt that from my first Korean lesson at UBC this morning. The class was surprisingly fun to attend and our teacher Son Jeong Hye was really nice. She kept the class in a playful atmosphere which really helped us on learning and understanding of the difficult Korean characters (we even sang a song near the end of the class, and we had to like shake hand with everyone else in the class while singing the song and say “Hi my name is X” to the other person =) ) I’m really looking forward to the next class next Saturday!

Karl and Eva got married at my place in the afternoon, with the presence of a marriage commisioner. They chose to do a simple civil ceremony, in which the marriage commissioner would provide a statement of marriage during the ceremony, followed by the usual “I do” speech :) Kedding and I were there witnessing the ceremony, and after that we had some wine (was some home brewed wine that’s been sitting in my fridge for 7+ years! It sure tasted awesome) and chatted for a bit.

Toro, amaebi & salmon sashimi Gelato! I had my all time favorite - After EightWe headed to Kerrisdale for dinner, the Japanese operated (this really makes a difference) Japanese restaurant “Ajisai Sushi Bar” or ?? in Kanji. The food we had really worthed the 20 minutes wait IMO, especially for the eel don (rice) that Karl recommended~ it’s a highly recommended~ oh yea also my favorite amaebi sashimi!! And of course, a nice dinner wouldn’t complete without some nice dessert - gelato!

Best wishes to Mr. & Mrs. Lau

It’s Karl’s (my band’s vocalist/guitarist) wedding tomorrow, going to take place at my place since his fiancee’s family isn’t going to attend and therefore Karl didn’t really want to do it at his place since his parents are there. He and his fiancee decided not to invite bunch of people over but just to do a small wedding ceremony. Just got back from the bandroom where we had some white wine and beer and we also did some free jam and chilled for quite a while. It’s amazing that many of the people around me that I know of are getting married…! I guess I’m just getting too old :(  Well anyway got to sleep now as I’ll be having my first Korean lesson at UBC tomorrow at 10am and I don’t want to be late!
