Another boring bandshow…

The Plaza ClubThe Plaza ClubThe Plaza ClubWas kinda excited to see this band show at The Plaza Club tonight, but turned out to be a disappointment, big time :( I’ve been to this club before, it was where Front Line Assembly had their Vancouver show and it always reminds me of one of the best band sound ever. The place was nice too, had great lightings and a great bar. Sai, Joe, Korie, and I got there right on time, but it was sooo empty and we soon figured that the show won’t be starting in an hour or two. We got pretty bored waiting so we ended up going to the Macdonald’s next door to get some bites. After around 1.5 hours the show finally kicked in, but as soon as they played the first song I already figured it’s going to be another crappy night. The band’s called “Sweetness” I think. The band song wasn’t bad, I like their drums, solid and stable, bass and guitar were cool, and the female keyboardist wasn’t bad at all. It was their vocal…that pissed me off so much. I’m not sure what’s the best way to word it but his voice just, sucks….lol. The kind of voice that he has wasn’t suitable for this type of songs at all. Another thing was that they were a cover band (yea I didn’t know that until they started playing all the songs that I was familiar to). Well, fine, playing covers is fine if you know what you are doing… but they just sounded… not up to par. I liked the piano solo from one of the two vocal guys, his name is Tim, I liked the way he played the piano, apparently he must have a strong classical/acoustic piano background. That solo song was the only song I liked throughout the night. The keyboardist girl was actually pretty good. It’s no doubt the vocal that brought the whole band down. Anyway, we were so bored with his voice that we had to leave during mid-show! :(

Long time no bandroom~

Just got back from the bandroom~ :) I haven’t been there for a longg time since I quitted the band 2 months ago, the room’s been changed a lot, new posters, new sofa, and new…CATS~ we’ve got 5 cats now (every person’s got one)… so my first thing up there was to play with them…for about half an hour. They’re cute, very tiny (I think they’re like 2 months old, other than Joe’s cat which is 6 months old) The cats would play with their own mates, they were playing hide-n-seek at one time~ I then picked up a stick with a hanging ball to bug them and they seemed to like it a lot (all 4 of them gathered around to play with it) except Joe’s cat who hid under the sofa at all time (not sure why)…

We played some drinking games (15/20 & Bomba Jija), which was a lot of fun. Then we jammed as usual. They played me their latest version of the new songs that they are making (I was making one of them as well before I quitted), they sounded awesome. I tried to add in some keyboard sounds into them but didn’t seem too cool or anything, lol. We chilled a bit at the end talked about our next camping dates and destination, and called it a day. Got to sleep soon, otherwise I’ll be feeling tired at the Bon Jovi concert I’m attending tomorrow night at 8pm~~~~ :)

13 chicken wings! holy crap

Just went to the bandroom to meet up Korie and Karl.. Looks like Korie got dropped out from her class so she’s down and stuff, so we went there to chat up with her. She seems to be okay afterall, lol.. we jammed a bit as usual and a while later Joe (drummer) showed up so we all jammed.

I suggested to go to #9 restaurant to have their super tasty garlic and pepper wings so we went there. We ordered two orders of wings and I actually ate up 13 of them! Just couldn’t stop since it’s too tasty. Man I think I can eat it non-stop… :) Had ordered a Hong Kong style milk tea as well, I wish I can sleep well tonight…

On the way home I took a picture of the new BCIT Aerospace centre for no reason, and here you go:

Awesome band practice

It’s already 2:27pm and I’ve just got up from bed.. Had my regular band practice last night from 8pm to 3am~ We had Hiro coming over to do some guitar and vocal (he’s Karl’s friend). He’s a really interesting person and we had lots of fun with him (we thought he’s cool and he’s got a Japanese girlfriend too and he can speak Japanese pretty well).  I’m getting a headache now due to the alcohol consumed last night (couple cans of beer and some Vodka that Joe brought over). Well I better start working on the logo design for my client now otherwise they’ll be like killing me next week! :(
