Canon SD1000 digi cam - small, cheap, and it owns!

My Canon SD1000 digital camera - frontMy Canon SD1000 digital camera - backJust because FutureShop was having this crazy sale, I decided to buy a second point-and-shoot camera since the Canon G9 that I have is kind of bulky to carry around. Went to FutureShop at 5pm sharp since they were having this 10% off almost everything sale. So I looked around and asked the sales dude what’s the cheapest Canon slim camera there and he showed me the Canon SD1000. It was a 7.1 megapixels cam and was only $161 after all the savings! ($20 instant saving off $199 regular price, plus the 10% off) I was pretty stoked about the price so I bought it without second thought (which kind of went against my usual routine of reading 8000 reviews online and comparing prices on 9000 websites before making a buying decision).

Sample image - took at River Roard, RichmondTook the camera home and played around with it for a bit. Turned out to be an awesome camera! Read a couple reviews on it and most of them were pretty good. There is a newer model (SD1100) that’s already out but it’s selling for $279 which gives you an additional megapixel (8.0) and an image stabilizer. The price tag doesn’t really fall within my budget so I didn’t really look into it. Overall I’m pretty happy with the camera, will of course take more pics here and there just to try it out.

Mini digital camera

Innovage Mini Digital Camera ($9.99)Was wandering around Sears this afternoon, and came cross this $9.99 “mini digital camera”. I bought it without hesitation since my Blackberry phone (got it free from work) doesn’t have a built-in camera (yea I know even the crappiest phone has built-in camera these days :( ) and I usually don’t carry my Canon G9 camera around me. Turned out to be a not-too-bad camera consider its low price tag, and it’s really “mini”…lol. Comes with USB cable, an AAA battery, CDs, and instructions. It has 16MB of memory which holds 20 pics in the highest resolution mode, and 2xx pictures in the lowest res settings. I think it’s a 0.3 megapixel…lol…but I don’t care as long as it takes *some* sort of picture XD

New camera!

Yay! Got my new digital camera delivered today!! :) It’s a Fujifilm FinePix F50fd 12MP camera and is not even available in North America yet~ Yea I got if off Ebay for about $400, which is not bad at all consider that it’s shipped directly from Japan (Japanese model). Usually I would prefer Canon (for their picture quality) or Sony (for their stylish designs), I went for Fujifilm this time because of its crazy good low light performance. It really owns Canon and Sony on low light performance while retaining a decent day time performance. Here is an article about it, another one, yet another one(in Chinese). I was going to get the Nikon D80 DSLR camera but gave up when I found out it doesn’t shoot movie! I DO want to take lots of movie when I travel, and this little Fujifilm will do it right.
