Orly? Ya rly!!

ORLY OWLI feel like talking about the ORLY OWL today…:):):):) He’s a super hilarious looking owl, I can’t stop smiling everytime looking at him, lol…..feels happy looking at him…for some reason…
Check out ORLY OWL’s official site! Tons of hilarious pictures submitted by people all over the world!

Here’s a description of him from the Wiki:
“O RLY?, short for “Oh, really?” is a popular Internet phenomenon, typically presented as an image macro featuring a Snowy Owl. The phrase “O RLY?” is typically used in a sarcastic or sardonic manner, often in response to a statement that the speaker feels is obvious, or blatantly self-contradictory. Some Internet forum trolls may also reply “O RLY?” in response to a lengthy post (and also “TLDR”).”

“The phrase “o rly?” was used on the Something Awful Forums at least as early as August 2003.[1] The original “O RLY?” Snowy Owl image macro is based on a photo taken by nature photographer John White, which he posted to the newsgroup alt.binaries.pictures.animals in 2001.[2] The snowy owl image was photoshopped on 4chan after the word filtering of the word “repost” to “owl”.[3] The owl image macro was posted or linked to on other websites, spawning many more image macros involving owls, notably those with “YA RLY” and “NO WAI”.”

STRESSed out…

I got sick and died, from work. Well, guess I still have a tiny bit of my soul floating around, which gives me enough energy to write this up…lol. I basically did some pretty mission critical production deploy today (for an application that is written by myself and a couple developers), that if I screw up even the slightest part of it people is going to die and the world is going to end…well not that serious but I’ll pretty much get butt kicked and so on. At least I got everything to work, which I think was pretty awesome with my novice skill level. Hopefully everything is going fine, and people will be happy, otherwise I’d probably go kill myself….heh

Still feeling sick, maybe 70% recovered, but still sick. Having headaches occassionally, guess my cold is still lingering…

Anyway, on the other hand I’m pretty happy that I got to know about this really talented Korean singer “Younha”. She’s Korean but she’s gotten herself into the Japanese market. I don’t think she’s too popular or anything even in Japan but she’s one of the most talented girl singers I’ve seen. Young, lovable face, crazy piano skills, great voice…what else you can ask for? Anyway here’s the MV of one of her most popular songs “????” (Houki Boshi / comet), which is the opening song for the ultra popular Japanese anime “Bleach” (will do a review pretty soon).

Sick..

Steveston areaSteveston areaSteveston area - huge kite/parachuteYea…I’m sick. Caught some kind of cold I guess, sore throat, fever, all that. Anyway, sickness wouldn’t stop me from going out…well guess I’m not seriously sick..just kind of sick, but still it doesn’t feel good at all. Did some grocery today, and was shocked at the nice, clear sky and warm weather. I guess that was because I seldom go out during the day (because of frickin work) so I think might have forgotten the feeling of a nice out day… After some grocery I drove to the Steveston village area since I wanted to check out the water and the nice views that one could always find near there. As expected the view was super nice. Families and people were out having fun and enjoying the great day. Old couples were holding hands walking alongside the water. I saw a couple guys flying some cool-looking kites where 5 or 6 identical looking kites were tied to one string at equal intervals. A couple other guys were flying this crazy, parachute looking “kite” (is there a name for those?). These kites were so huge that I could see the guy kind of got pulled up off the ground a bit by the force and “hoping” in mid-air like a bunny… Hopefully the next couple days will be as nice so I can grab some fish and chips near the Steveston dock after work :)

The Singing Dog

False Creek areaFalse Creek area - walking Brandy with Alice and MatthewWent to have dinner at Alice’s place as usual. I was there to pick up some stuff that my mom asked her to bring to me all the way from Hong Kong. Got some clothes, some accessory made in the shape of a turtle with Jade (so I’ll have better luck or something?), and some red pockets (that are given by the Chinese during new year) She cooked and treated me dinner and it was really tasty… And of course I got to play with her dog Brandy as usual. We walked Brandy around the False Creek area. It was pretty chilly out but anyway it was a nice walk and I got to see a couple of Brandy’s “friends”..i.e. other dogs that were being walked by some other people.

But…the most awesome thing of the night was….I taught Brandy how to “sing”! lmao…I just accidentally squeezed this squeaking toy of his in a weird way and he started responding with his singing voice! Alice told me that it’s his first time doing that and we were all so excited :) I think I made him sing 60 times last night, pretty crazy! Here’s a little footage of the fun:

Fast Tracker sequencer - simply amazing

Milky Tracker music sequencerI’m pretty happy today since I got to play with this new FREE music sequencing software that Andrew sent me, called “MilkyTracker”. In fact I’m ULTRA happy with the software, it’s so awesome…! I got to create my own waveforms (i.e. sounds) and thus creating my own “instruments”. You can start creating from scratch by drawing the wave forms (yea, drawing them!!!) or you can start from a default waveform like a sine wave or a sawtooth. I had so much fun creating sounds!!! You can even create sounds from a drumkit like bass drum/snare/hi-hats… isn’t that fxxking too cool!?!? Also available are loads of built in effects that you can apply to individual notes, like tremolo, panning, volume sliding, vibrato, arpeggiating…and so on. The possibilities are just unlimited.

A description of Tracker from Wiki: “Tracker is the generic term for a class of software music sequencers which, in their purest form, allow the user to arrange sound samples stepwise on a timeline across several monophonic channels. A tracker’s interface is primarily numeric; notes are entered via the alphanumeric keys of the computer keyboard, while parameters, effects and so forth are entered in hexadecimal. A complete song consists of several small multi-channel patterns chained together via a master list.”

Milky Tracker screenshot - Andrew’s songHere’s the screenshot of Andrew’s song in Milky Trakcer. Somehow color of his app looks cooler which is unfair….! Anyway, I was messing with it for the whole night, and made this little crazy short piece (the first song below). I think it sounds okay…lol
The second song below was made by Andrew, it’s pretty awesome IMO.
