I’m dried up, killed, died, devoured…

Okay, just received a bill/letter from the City of Richmond asking for the utility payment for this year….$670…nice. Due by March 31st…nice. LIKE I HAVE THAT KIND OF MONEY. And God, give me at least a couple month of notice…! It’s been crazy this month. So $670 for utility, and $450 for the strata council for painting the exterior wall of our townhouse complex….another $1200 for mortgage, and $500 for car….plus all the gas bill, electricity, phone line, internet….. so this month alone I’m paying close to $3000 for nothing!!!!! :( :( :( It’s killing me… when is this going to end? Someone please help…

Music Blast 2008

Went to this bandshow tonight at Tom Lee Music Hall with my Korean friend Boom. Was thinking of checking out band Locus since I haven’t heard them performing live plus I missed their show last time. Show started off late as expected but I’m fine with that.. pretty used to it. Turned out to have way less people than I thought, not sure why, but I didn’t really care as long as I get to see what I wanted to see.

Zechi-Mechi - Japanese groupThe show started off with a Japanese band called Zechi-Mechi. I was pretty sure that they were Japanese not because they sang in their language but they yelled “We are from Japan” for like 8000x times…pretty hilarious lol. I think they were pretty good even though I wasn’t a big fan of the type of music they played. The drummer guy was totally awesome…and he was FAST! I was like …. what the fk that’s unreal….lol. The guitar/vocal guy was pretty entertaining too.

Locus bandLocus bandLocus was good. Again not totally the kind of music that I’m into but still I was able to see the effort that’s been put into the song/lyrics/arrangement. I liked the piano stuff and the way they played it, liked the oldish/analog effect that they had on the piano (or was that the actual sound from the piano? no clue) The songs were pretty melodic too, which is a plus as I hated repetitive boring shit like what you find in trance and some hip-hop. I have plans on writing/arranging my own piano music so basically I wouldn’t risk missing any chance of checking out how others perform so I could possibly learn and be more creative on my own stuff.

Boom and I left not too long after the 3rd band started playing. Hated to say this but god it was sooooo loud/noisy…! We were totally turned down and couldn’t stand it at all :( Might just not be the kind of music I like but I really didn’t know how to otherwise appreciate what they were playing…lol. Apparently we missed the bands that followed but I guess we just weren’t able to stand the noisiness plus I got work to do so it was a pretty good time to leave. Boom taught me hell lot of Korean words/phrases today which was really awesome as I’ve been learning Korean for almost 5 months now and still for some reason picking it up really slowly. Learnt “fuck you” in Korean too but of course I’m not going to say it here or anything XD

Great song, great sky, great day

First of all, I want to share this great Japanese song “??????????” (meaning: A flower that only blooms here) from the Japanese pop group “????” (Kobukuro). Very nice melodic song with great lyrics. My recent favorite group for sure, in addition to HY.

Here’s a translation of its lyrics from Japanese:

This place is empty, but there’s a flower that only blooms here
It’s a place where you can quietly put down the baggage in your heart
The azure sea reflecting the color of the sky, from far away, I could hear
Your laughing voice, but when I listened closely, it was the sound of the waves

If you can’t hide your loneliness, just be alone
The name I keep screaming in a whisper is always the same

Is that gentle place still waiting for me even now?
With a smile til the end (with a smile), you turned back time after time (and waved)
I chewed my lip as you got further away
Now the loneliness fills me
And I wait for the fingertips that will wipe this damp world

What your shadow taught me was not just the sadness there
If you look up and turn around, you’ll see the light shining there

The same number of meetings and partings, but there’s something unaccounted for
An excess of memories keep blooming forever in my heart

The road is muddy after the rain
But I’ll carve the sign that I’ve lived here
Somewhere these tears will fall (these tears) on a withered flower (on a heart)
And on the other side of happiness, it will once again bloom
My wish is blown by the ocean wind into the wide sky
And someday I’ll cross a small rainbow with these legs

(A flower that only blooms here, a wind that only blows here)
(A song you can only hear here, something you can only see here…)
(A flower that only blooms here, a wind that only blows here)

Is that gentle place still waiting for me even now?
The loneliness (loneliness) suddenly fills me (fills me)
And wipes this damp world
The road is muddy after the rain
But I’ll carve the sign that I’ve lived here
Someday these tears (these tears) and this loneliness (loneliness)
Will be left behind, along with the wounds of this period
Even the brilliantly shining morning turns into mud
I’m waiting for the day when the wind carries it away and turns into a star

Great day with great sky - VancouverGreat day with great sky - VancouverAnyway, I went to work today at the Burnaby office. Yea… how sad it is to work on a Saturday! :( BUT the trip was really worthwhile as I got to see the nicest sky and weather of the past…two months? Great great weather and clear sky…unlimited visibility….it was just the kind of weather that would make anyone smile :) Too bad I didn’t bring my Canon digital camera but I did carry my mini camera with me (the $9 one that I bought a week ago) and took some crappy pics but at least show you how great the day was!

Lunar eclipse…. cool stuff

On the way to Burnaby MountainMy trusted 30x refracting telescopeLunar eclipse happened tonight around 7pm. I decided to drive up onto the Burnaby Mountain to take a peek… just to have a break from my insanely busy work schedule. Got there around 6:30pm, not too many people, but some “pros” already had their tripods and all their gears ready to go. People started crowding up around 7pm since it was said that the “prime time” (which is the moon getting completely blocked due to that the sun/earth/moon are perfectly aligned in a straight line or something) would occur around 6:55pm. It was a bit cloudly but the killing thing was the coldness! I was totally froze up and my hands were all numb. I could barely hold up the camera and my telescope…

Lunar eclipseLunar eclipseLunar eclipse - primeAnyway, took a couple pictures with my Canon G9 digital camera, and had it zoomed all the way up to 24X (optical + digital). The pictures were reasonably clear without using a tripod (I couldn’t believe that I actually forgot to bring one…) The photo with the moon appearing red-ish was the moment when it was completely blocked. Pretty cool stuff I would say despite the coldness :)

Oh by the way, I was eating some Mcdonalds fries from the Junior Chicken value meal while gazing the moon with my car’s roof off. Can life be better than this? XD

No life

Yea I have no life right now. Worked around…18 hours today (18 hours and 15 minutes to be precise). Had a boring instant noodle lunch with some corn and an egg, then for dinner I had a stupid Chinese take out that costed $3.5 (drove out to get the food so I could at least have 20 minutes or so to rest my eyes.) I know I shouldn’t even be working for more than 10 hours but the amount of work I have is just…. insane. Having a project due on March 1st I guess I have no choice but to work my ass off until I consume my last breathe…
