First music tune made in Logic 7

Logic 7Feeling bad today so I ditched all the work that I’m supposed to be working on tonight and went into my little studio and started making some music. Finally have a chance to try out Logic 7 on my macbook (It’s a software professional musicians use to do arrangments for songs) It’s been forever since Andrew installed it for me, and today I finally was able to give it a try :) It’s pretty straight forward to use, more or less similar to the other software Cakewalk that I used about 5 years ago to make songs. Yes, it’s been a while since I made the last song… I think it was when I was still in my band “Kaye“. Reminds me of how much time I had put into the making of the songs…

So, with Logic 7, and the piano sound sample library that I got a while ago, I went ahead and created this small clip:

Instant clam chowder

Not feeling very well today, I mean, mentally. Something has been bothering me a lot lately. Can’t really talk about it here since it’s some private shit but yea I’m down. I need to make a choice, an insanely overly complicated choice. I hope I’ll be fine. Otherwise I’ll just go and kill myself. Sorry for being harsh on you, Herman.

Instant clam chowderMade a lazy lunch today - instant clam chowder, since I didn’t feel like going out at all (I’ll probably get into a car accident and die if I drive in my current state) Turned out to be quite tasty….at least there were some real clams in it.

Have been listening to this song Andrew sent me this morning - I Do Not Want This by Nine Inch Nails. It totally depicts what I feel at this very moment…

——
Im losing ground
You know how this world can beat you down
Im made of clay
I fear Im the only one who thinks this way
Im always falling down the same hill
Bamboo puncturing this skin
And nothing comes bleeding out of me just like a waterfall Im drowning in
2 feet below the surface I can still make out your wavy face
And if I could just reach you maybe I could leave this place
I do not want this
I do not want this
I do not want this
I do not want this
Dont you tell me how I feel
Dont you tell me how I feel
Dont you tell me how I feel
You dont know just how I feel
I stay inside my bed
I have lived so many lives all in my head
Dont tell me that you care
There really isnt anything, is there?
You would know, wouldnt you?
You extend your hand to those who suffer
To those who know what it really feels like
To those whove had a taste
Like that means something
And oh so sick I am
And maybe I dont have a choice
And maybe that is all I have
And maybe this is a cry for help
I do not want this
I do not want this
I do not want this
I do not want this
Dont you tell me how I feel
Dont you tell me how I feel
Dont you tell me how I feel
You dont know just how I feel
I want to know everything
I want to be everywhere
I want to f**k everyone in the world
I want to do something that matters

It’s so white

Snow outside the garageIt is now 3:03am. I just finished all the work for today. I went out to place my recycle bin out in front of my garage, and….it’s all white! I didn’t know it snowed since I’ve shut all the blinds. Wow, this is pretty amazing! Well not like I’ve never seen snow before but, since it’s in the middle of the night the surface of the snow was so intact and smooth. It’s kind of cool. And of course, I brought out my camera right away and took a pic =D

I actually dined out around downtown last night and took some pics but I’m too tired now to post them up, will do so tomorrow.

Cypress 2nd attempt

Went to Cypress again today for snowboarding. Okay first of all I’m half dead right now due to the extreme tiredness (I can barely sit upright and my forearms are hurting a lot). WELL but I’m happy :) Davinder, Angela, Allison, and I went up today early in the morning (Allison went up first with her friends and then we met up around noon). The sky was SOOOOOOOOO nice today - unlimited visibility, moderate coldness, and 10cm of fresh powder snow :) I was shocked by the beautiful scenery I saw up on the mountain. I was able to see where all the runs are, was able to see every trees clearly and the image was so sharp. It got even prettier around noon when the sun shined on the trees. I should have brought my camera with me!

Anyway, Davinder was learning pretty quickly this time (even though he still fell down a lot and we had to sit around and wait for him from time to time). Angela and I were able to pick up some speed this time since I had FINALLY managed to do the toe-side brake. I was certainly still in learning mode but I was able to slowly carve left/right in a zig zag. While Davinder sticked to the green (beginner) runs for the whole time, I actually went down a couple different blue (more difficult) runs with Angela. These runs are certainly steeper but I found the snow to be much more powdery and soft. It was actually quite comfy to fall down on the puffy snow…lol. Allison was pretty good at it too, but then she was with her other friend most of the time. We had lunch at the usual crappy cafeteria, and I had a chicken burger and stole some of Davinder and Angela’s fries XD.

We did a couple more runs after the food. Since we stayed till pretty late tonight, before we left the sun was gone and Angela and I decided to try out one more run to get the feel of “night skiing”. It was pretty fun actually…well it’s a total different feel. It was a great day, I’m satisfied, and tired.

The making of a 2.5mm stereo to 3.5mm stereo convertor cable

Since I lost my iPod Nano (!!! cries !!!), I have been desperately in need for a 2.5mm stereo to 3.5mm stereo conversion cable to hook up my BlackBerry phone with the AUX-IN port in my car so that I can listen to some music on my phone. Rather than spending $7 to get it from The Souce CC, I’ve decided to make my own. Should be pretty straight forward. Here are some instructions for whoever that is interested in what I did.

Wire cutter, soldering kit (gun + iron), 2.5mm headset cable, 3.5mm cable, electrical tapeStrip the plastic portion off the cables carefully, not cutting off the copper strips insideMore cables to strip! Strip them all. The tiny ones are kind of hard to work with, had to use a fine cutterTools used: Wire cutter, volt meter, soldering kit (gun + iron), 2.5mm headset cable, 3.5mm cable, electrical tape. First, strip the plastic portion off the cables carefully, becareful not to damage the copper strips inside. After getting rid of the outter layer, more cables to strip! Strip them all. The tiny ones are kind of hard to work with, had to use a fine cutter.

Use voltmeter to test to see which wire corresponds to which contact. Turn the dial on the voltmeter to 150mA ohm. When the two ends are connected the needle will flap up.Use the soldering gun to put some melted iron onto the bare wires so they will go onto the other wire easily.Wires with soldering irons on them. Turned kind of black for some reason =(Then use the voltmeter to test to see which wire corresponds to which contact. Turn the dial on the meter to 150mA ohm. When the two ends are connected the needle will flap up. Use the soldering gun to put some melted iron onto the bare wires so they will “stick” better and easier onto the other wires (See the wires with soldering irons on them. They turned kind of black for some reason =( )

Solder up the right cables.Wrap up the contacts with electrical tape.Perfectly done. Time for some music. Now solder up the right cables. After that wrap up the contacts with electrical tape carefully, make sure the bare part of the wires don’t touch. Perfectly done. Time to hook it up for some music!

Starbucks whole coffee bean, X’mas packagingIt was a bag of nice smelling Starbucks coffee (X’mas version, or something) that I got from Wendy’s mom. I think she got it from a parent of some kids from her daycare center.
