New Year party~ long missed fun

Just got back from party at Tony’s house. There were 9 people in total, I didn’t know any of them other than Peter and Jenkin…(just met Tony once). They were very nice and easy to talk with :) K let me recall the names…Tony, Peter, Alan, Jessie (Alan’s gf), Louise, Gail (Louise’s gf), Joanne, and I. Yahoo~ I remember the names! lol. I brought to the party some of my liquors collection and also I brought three wines…two red wine and a champaign. We had hot pot, on two stoves with different soup base. Lots of fish/meat balls, fresh fatty beef, veggies, tofu, chicken, dumplings….etc. It was pretty tasty with the addition of soya sauce plus satay sauce :)

We had some chats, then we started some Wii fun (yea I brought my Wii, and Alan brought lots of Wii games~). Played a couple games like Warioware, Mario Cart….but we all ended up playing Mario Party 7 since it’s just so much fun~~~ It’s a turn-based game where each player throws two dices in each round and that determines how many steps he can take on the “game board”, and of course there are pitfalls, bonus…etc on the board, and who gets 10 stars first becomes the winner. It was sooo much fun and everyone was lol throughout the game. The mini-games were amazing and very entertaining. We chilled a bit after the game while having some nice cakes, and left around 1:30am.

Darn…. I think I left my shooter glasses at Tony’s place! And also my Wii sensor bar..! >< (still at the top of his TV I THINK)

Ruppina - great sound, great face XD

Mai Kudo from RuppinaDidn’t do much today… got up around 4pm… and slacked XD. Downloaded and listened to some songs from a J-pop group named “Ruppina”. The voice was really beautiful, sounds kind of similar to ZARD’s voice - deep, solid voice…unlike those typical chick-like, high pitched Japanese teenage girls. I especially like the song “You Are” in the album “Ruppina BEST”.

Ruppina’s vocal Mai Kudo / ??? turns out to be really hot~ (Click here to goto her official site) Well, seriously I like her voice, just like how I loved ZARD’s voice. Ruppina had been disbanded for quite a while now, but I’m going to pay attention to Mai’s new releases, if there will be any. :)

Wheeeeee! While writing this entry I just found out Mai has a blog too! (Click here) lol… and she updates it pretty frequently~ Just listened to a song she posted for her fans on Dec 25th as a “gift”, nice song with some monologue! I guess I’ll keep reading her blog~ good way to brush up my Japanese reading skills too….lol

Listen to Mai’s “Warm Snow” :)

Korean drama review - Terms of Endearment / ??? ?? (2004, KBS)

Korean Drama - Terms of EndearmentJust finished watching this amazing drama. It was extremely touching! One of the reasons I watched it was because Han Ga In XD. The plot reflects our daily life situation, and also the value of morality of the South Korean culture. Parents should try their best to listen to their children and should not force them upon their own decisions. Childrens should listen to and respect their parents. Husband and wife should respect, comfort, understand each other especially in the time of despair, fear, grief, and sadness. They should forgive past mistakes & unhappy memories. The drama is superb, I highly recommend anyone watching it despite it is a bit long (70 episodes).

Below is an in-depth synopsis extracted from www.spcnet.tv :

This drama shows how devastating and hurtful it can be for a woman to live with a boyfriend before marriage and not end up tying a knot with him. Korea has the second highest divorce rate in the world as more and more families become ruined — mainly because one of the spouses cheats. To make things worse, the mass media continues to champion premarital cohabitation as a choice that unmarried couples are free to make. Terms of Endearment depicts today’s harsh reality and once again reminds us of the sacred meaning of marriage and the importance of family.

Boxing Day = Day of Horror

Okay, so I went out on boxing day just like everyone else in this crazy city… Went to Futureshop and Bestbuy to check out some electronics/gadgets, lots of stuff were on sale, but it was so crowded that there was no way you could ever get a sales rep’s attention nor have the stamina to wait in line for checkouts. It was horrible. I ended up leaving after walking around in the store for a few times, thinking that I didn’t actually have anything in mind that I wanted to get anyway. I then drove up to Richmond Centre, and being unable even to spot a SINGLE parking space (in spite of driving a Smart car), I decided to give up and drive to London Drugs instead. Pretty crazy.

I was finally able to actually buy something at London Drugs :) Got two cans of Pringles chips, and got this “Got2bGlued” hair spray that was recommended by my friend. Both of them are “on sale”…I guess it’s mission completed and time to head home…lol

X’mas shopping

It’s X’mas day. It was barely snowing in the morning, I was able to see some snowflakes but they were melting… so.. no white X’mas this year! :( Well, it’s okay, we all got pretty used to it here in Vancouver.

Check out “queue” on Futureshop.com on boxing dayDid some X’mas online shopping yesterday, and got this Nokia BH-100 bluetooth headset off the Futureshop website for….$9.99! (savings of $40) Pretty amazing deal, but had to “line up” for 2 hours just to check out from the website. Their site was certainly overcrowded as it had went down for about an hour when I was checking out. But anyhow I got myself the gift, I’m happy :)

Since most of the stores are closed today I’ll probably stay home to finish up some leftover work for my clients, and maybe play some World of Warcraft XD (at level 7 now by the way)

Snowboarding “under” the snow~

the Gondola“It’s snowing…holy!” As soon as I woke up and glanced thru the blinds, I saw this HUGE pile of snow…and it’s still snowing…pretty hard. I didn’t expect that it would snow yesterday, it’s totally…shocking! Shocking happy since I was going to Mt. Cypress with Angela and Davinder in like 2 hours!! :) Let it fall let it fall!

Angela & Davinder on the snowMe boardingAngela boardingDavinder and I met up at Angela’s place, around 9am. Angela’s got a Subaru Forester (4WD) with winter tires on, so we felt that we were going to be….pretty safe lol. We got there quickly and it was PACKED. We had to walk so much from our parking spot to the place where they sell tickets. Huge line up too, and after about an hour wait we finally got onto the Gondola. The mountain was extremely foggy and snowing pretty hard, so we didn’t get to see much of the “scenery” during the gondola ride…but oh well, it was still fun :) as it was my first time. It was Davinder’s first time snowboarding (Angela is a pro, and I’ve done it couple times), he had to rent out everything including jacket, pants, boots, board…everything; and since it was snowing hard still, we were forced to buy these much overpriced goggles ($34 or something) ….:(

Davinder & IDavinder & AngelaWe had lunch at this burger place, and as expected we got some overpriced (and bad tasting, imo) burgers with some fries and pop. Well, at least gave us some energy to move onto the next few runs. Davinder got too tired from the falling/tipping-over-and-had-to-crawl-back-up-in-a-weird-position routine, so he didn’t go for the runs with us after the food. But anyway it was fun fun fun! (Fun to see how Davinder fell from the lift helplessly….etc) and it was certainly helpful on my leanings watching how Angela did her swift moves! We’ve decided to leave around 5pm since Angela had to go home dinner with family (for the Chinese “Winter Festival”) What a fun, memorable day! (lol Davinder)
