New camera (again)

I just sold my Fujifilm F50fd digital camera that I got from Ebay like 3 weeks ago…lol. Sold it to a guy on Craigslist for $350, not bad at all~ Reason selling it was to invest in this Canon G9 camera, much higher end than the F50fd even though both are 12 megapixels (here is a review, here is another one with sample images.) The F50fd was overall a great camera, slim, handsome looking, powerful… but the image quality was worse than expected so not too long after getting it I was already in search of a replacement 8O. After couple dozen hours of research, I ended up picking up the top-of-the-line Canon G9, which is a 12 megapixel with a 6X optical zoom and an image stablizer. Turned out to be one of my best decision made this year, the image quality is stunning. Great color, accurate focus, good low light performance (ISO 400 with not much noise), and solid steel sturdy body. Macro performance is amazing too, I was placing the lens as close as 0.5 cm from an object and it was able to focus with ease! Movie taking quality was great compared to the Fujifilm F50fd - color was accurate and I was able to zoom in/out during recording.

I’m looking forward to utilize my new camera to its max during my next vacation to China in the coming month! :)

Elite Dinner Strikes Back

Fresh oysters! As we were having so much fun last week hosting the dining party, we decided to do it again. Yesterday night Benny brought over some fresh Sinku oysters he got from his supplier, cheap but still very tasty (well it’d still cost you $3+/ea. when you eat them in any restaurant). As an oyster non-eater for many years, I was actually quite stoked when I saw the 2.5 dozen of oysters lying neatly on the plate.. I think I started liking them :) but still I need to eat them with a few drops of tabasco and lime juice even though Benny recommended eating them without. I find the smaller ones more tasty and have more flavor in them. Oh yes I also learned opening oysters with the help of this proprietary oyster opener (it’s harder than you think). Janet and I were practicing hard and I think I should be able to handle all of them on my own next time.

Wentzel duck breast, medium cookedFollowed was the Wentzel duck breast. Benny made it perfectly this time as I think he overcooked it last time. Then we had this delicious, tender black cod, curry mussels, and some naan bread with curry dips. They were all superb, paring with some refreshing Pinot Gris wine. After some chats, we had these dessert cake that Janet brought over, and some espresso to complement.

It really feels great, when you can enjoy all kinds of delicious high end food from the comfort of home :)

Portfolio page up - v1.0

Have been taking some time to add stuff to my new portfolio page, and it’s up! I’ve added in most of my web design work, graphics design projects, models that I built, and some of the paintings I did in the past. Of course this is just a small subset of all my creations but that should give anyone a good idea who I am and what I do :) By the way comments are ggggggggggreatly appreciated!!

Entering “bandless” mode

I quitted my band last night, yes, I quitted. Had some alchohol with Karl and Sai, they apparently didn’t want me to go and they had really tried their best to make me stay…but.. I guess it’s my own problem, my own fault, that I had developed this fear playing band with them. We have been trying to write songs, and each of us was supposed to add their own stuff to the song….etc. I’m not sure why but I didn’t feel like doing it. Perhaps because I didn’t like the style of the songs that they do? Or maybe having too much stress lately on things? Somehow I just couldn’t force/tell myself to devote my time and effort into the band, and therefore I’d rather end it quickly instead of going to the band practice and disappoint everyone.

I’m just qutting my band, not quitting on my musical journey. I’d still goto the bandroom to do some free jam with them whenever I feel like, and I’d also keep on creating my favorite pieces on my piano. Music is just part of my life afterall, I guess :)

Just another day

What did I do today…? Work work work work work? I guess.. Have been working on these SQL stored procedures the whole day… so I rewarded myself by going to Ikea to get this gravlax salmon ($6.49/ea and I got two!) and this Gravlaxsas Mustard as well… Had an Ikea $0.5 hotdog at the store, then rushed back home to enjoy my tasty salmon. I couldn’t help but opened the cheap white wine that I got two days ago, and paired it with my salmon… yummy!!! The Ikea branded mustard was really good too..I generally dislike mustard but this one taste really sweet and didn’t have a strong mustard taste… perfect match for the salty salmon~ :)

“Elite dinning” - 2nd part

Phew.. finally done all the clean ups for the party last night! Since I don’t trust my dishwisher I had to do all the clean ups with my own hand~ It was fun… we had about 3 girls (Korie/Linda/Vivian) and 5 guys (Benny/Peter/Vincent/Andy/Me). Most of the girls were playing on the Wii (Rayman Raving Rabbids, Elebits, Cooking Mama), and guys were busy helping out prepping the food. My place is kind of tiny but luckly everyone knew what they were doing and didn’t really make a mess :) I was busy prepping martinis and shooters with the new liquors I got yesterday, learnt a couple tricks from Benny and I was lucky enough to be able to practice with real people…lol. They liked my mixes in general, which felt great! I especially love the taste of apple sour puss and hypnotiq, they just have this irresistable great taste.

Dinner Menu prepped by BennyWe first had this delicious smoked salmon rolls, with Benny’s secret ingredient called “capers“…then it came the ultra tasty mussels with of course another of Benny’s secret house curry sauce (the guests really liked it so much). After that we had three plates of duck breast, medium cooked. They were good, but since the oven wasn’t hot enough and also the heat didn’t dissipate equally, the duck had to be cooked longer than usual and Benny was saying that it would be much tastier if it’s cooked in a shorter period of time:roll: …anyway I still find it super tasty~!

We had wine as well, it was Benny’s restaurant’s house wine, naked, pretty tasty. I liked how it doesn’t taste too sour as I generally prefer red over white because of its sourness. He forgot to bring the molten chocolate cake for the dessert, but luckily I’ve got some dairy/fat-free icecream for the dessert craving guests ;) After chilling out for a while the girls and couple guys left.. Benny, Peter and I stayed till something 4am to finish up the wine and drinks, and had some long missed chats.
