Ajisen ramen - disappointment
I was really stoked at first to hear from my friend that Ajisen Ramen(????) had opened up a branch in Richmond since I liked it so much when I had it in Hong Kong. Still remember that the soup had this irresistable taste, with tasty cha siu pork served nicely. So there Vincent and I went to this newly opened Ajisen Ramen franchise at Parker Place, Richmond. The interior decor looked contemporary and the huge Ajisen doll standing in the middle of the restaurant was really cute. I ordered this BBQ pork ramen (always liked this one whenever I had ramen). The portion was small, but well I wouldn’t mind if it’s all tasty. Turned out to be a huge disappointment.. The ramen noodle tastes like spaghetti.. the BBQ pork was sliced TOO thin and it’s barely enough for anyone. There’s a half egg but that’s almost everything in the bowl. The soup was okay, not the best stuff for sure. All in all it’s very plain and nothing too special.. in fact felt a bit like getting ripped. Anyway, I was at least half full after swallowing all the soup. I guess I’m just too picky on food/taste, but oh well, that’s a good sign isn’t it.
After dinner we headed to the River Rock Casino for some fun. I sat in the Sic-Bo game table, fed in $20, and started playing this stupid game of taking a guess on whether the dices turn out to be a big or a small number. There were three dices, if the total adds up to 4-10 it’s a “small”, from 11 to 17 would be a “big”. Was winning for a while, went up to $26, then my luck was gone and I hit $0 in about 20 minutes :(. Still fun, and the place was packed.
